I enjoyed this article. I just started reading “Code” by Petzold to try to gain a little understanding about how binary code can hold so much information. I figured I needed to start there as a lead in to grasping AI.
Thanks. I am actually working on an outline for a book “Exploring the Digital Globe” that seeks to explain how the digital world works and demystify a lot of the “stuff” like AI that seems magical, but is really just statistics! I am pitching as I am “Rick Steves” your travel guide to the digital globe.
I look forward to reading that. I don’t need to know how the digital world works, but I want to. I really want to know who is in charge of making sure the digital data is not lost.
That is a big problem. Have you read Dave Edgar's "The Circle" and The Every"? It is fiction but explores a lot of issue, including what happens when you put everything into a digital form and then it is lost. It is also entertaining.
I have not read these two books, but I will. I have read more than one post apocalyptic thriller that touches on the subject. Enough information that when AT&T had a nationwide outage last February, I went to the bank right away for some cash.😂
